Two days on the road and while we have not yet hit the halfway point, we have officially crossed from east to west in traversing the Mississippi at St. Louis. I am totally geeking out on so many history touchstones. Today saw more river highlights as we enjoyed glimpses of the Ohio, Mississippi, Missouri, and Kansas rivers. Tonight humans and hounds are all resting up and hiding from triple digit temperatures in Lawrence, Kansas - site of Free State disputes, Big 12 athletics and academics, a Civil War raid, and a stop on the Oregon Trail (which of course resonates beyond my love of history to my memories of listening to Megan play a favorite early educational CD). Travel continues to be wonderfully smooth. I-95 traffic makes everything a cakewalk in comparison :)Wednesday, June 26, 2013
